"As evidenced during the current and past lightning seasons, the availability of effective lightning protection and earthing solutions for infrastructure and industry is of critical importance," says Ian McKechnie, MD of Innopro, a specialist consultant and solution provider in industrial electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), earthing and lightning protection.
With this in mind, speciality leaders Innopro, in association with Wits University, is presenting a half-day industry-briefing seminar on 'Best Practices in Lightning Protection and Earthing of Structures and Systems'. This seminar has now been presented on a number of occasions, both as a public seminar and in-house to various organisations, and is reported to have been very well received.
As a result of this, Innopro will be presenting the seminar at various venues around the country in February/March this year. Seminars are planned for various places, including Durban, Richards Bay, Rustenburg, Gauteng, Mpumalanga and Bloemfontein. The seminars will take the form of a morning seminar usually commencing at 07h00 for 07h30 and including a scrumptious breakfast. The seminars will typically end around 13h00 allowing delegates to still return to the workplace in the afternoon.
McKechnie noted that the briefing seminars are aimed at industry practitioners at all levels and will be beneficial to all persons involved in the design, management, insurance, risk assessment and/or maintenance of infrastructure and systems that can be affected or influenced by lightning and related electromagnetic interference. He added that a technical qualification is not a prerequisite for attendance or for gaining benefit from the seminar.
