The Spirax Mitech range of desuperheaters complements the conventional nozzle and spillback system. The desuperheaters use high pressure steam to assist atomisation making them suitable for use in the pulp and paper and sugar industries in particular.
Providing good atomisation across a wide range of operating conditions results in good temperature control with no thermal cracking of the downstream pipework. Only low pressure water is required, where, with most other designs, high pressure water is essential. This is a major advantage when a ready supply of high pressure water is not available.
With a turndown ratio of 35:1, the desuperheater is easy to install and may be mounted in any position. There are no moving parts in the steam, and accurate temperature control to within ±1°C is possible.
