ATEX directive explained

November 2005 News

With only nine months remaining until the deadline for implementation of the ATEX Workplace Directive 99/92/EC, Wolf Safety has updated its 'ATEX Explained' poster guide, which reviews the main obligations of this directive upon all European hazardous area sites. It suggests that investment in compliant equipment now can save risk assessment costs on NON-ATEX apparatus still in use on their sites.

ATEX equipment manufacturers who have been in the secure position of compliance for nearly three years now, have justifiable cause to ask 'the industry' - "Are you prepared?" The 99/92/EC Workplace Directive stipulates minimum requirements for improving the safety and health protection of workers potentially at risk from explosive atmospheres. This will impose a massive training burden on European oil, gas, petrochemical, processing and transport industries in new procedures for safe practice at work and risk assessments.

Wolf Safety products from Penlite to Turbolites are available for virtually every hazardous area situation. More information on Wolf ATEX products such as sales data, maintenance instructions and the Wolf Guide to the ATEX Directives 'ATEX Explained' can be downloaded from the Company's website - www.wolf-safety.co.uk or contact the local distributor in South Africa.
