Monitoring relays in 22,5 mm housing

August 2005 Operator Interfaces, Switches & Relays

Meeting industry requirements for more precise risk management and more accurate information for reduced maintenance effort, Omron is offering a new range of monitoring relays. With innovative functions, these DIN-sized 22,5 mm relays provide assured and accurate current, voltage and liquid level monitoring to provide early warning of system failures, helping to maximise up-time and prevent damage.

This new series includes relays for single-phase current and voltage monitoring, relays for three-phase voltage monitoring (K8AB), plus a conductive level control model (61F-D). Single-phase models are available for monitoring over- and under-voltage (including a version that also supports H/HH and L/LL operating modes on top of that), and monitoring over- and undercurrent. Three-phase models are available for monitoring over- and under-voltage, whilst variants provide the addition of monitoring phase sequence and phase loss, and voltage asymmetry. The conductive level controller is sensitivity adjustable, has a liquid supply or drainage function and a delay timer.

Features and benefits of these relays include three-phase power supply compatibility and a relay contact capacity of 6 A at 250 V a.c. There are models available with either one or two SPDT outputs. LEDs on the front of the relays provide visual indication of power status, relay output condition, and alarm status. Configuration DIP switches provide selection of the various functions, making the new relays flexible, as well as simplifying product ordering and allowing users to meet diverse application requirements with fewer product variants.

All the information needed to configure the relay is provided on the side of the product, including wiring diagrams, DIP-switch settings, and part number/function description. With their innovative functions and compact size, the K8 series relays and 61F-D will address a broad range of application requirements.

Typical applications include monitoring generator voltages, providing chain breakage protection for conveyors, checking battery voltage, protecting pumps against idle running, monitoring phase sequence or phase loss on escalators, and monitoring liquid levels in tanks.
