Roadshow moves from Mphumulanga to KwaZulu-Natal

July 2005 News

In May this year a brave team set out to uncover the lesser-known area of Steelpoort. To the surprise of some, instrumentation and control is a well understood and much practised discipline in these parts. The growth of the mining community in the last few months alone has been phenomenal and is second only to the rising number of bed and breakfast facilities in the area. 24 exhibitors in all were in Steelpoort on 4 May to exhibit their products to the community; unfortunately a disappointing visitor turnout will almost certainly influence any future decision whether to take this level of technology to the area again.

Nelspruit was the next stop on 5 May and enjoyed much better response from local users and also visitors from Swaziland. Once again the concept of bringing the technology to the doorstep of the end user ensured that all levels of users in the industry were exposed to the latest available technology in the field of measurement and control. Companies taking part in these two events included:

Adroit, Airtech, Anglo Allied Engineering, Autotech Weighing, Burkert Contromatic, Citect, Control Techniques, Danntech, Endress+Hauser, Ernest Lowe, Festo, Flowserve, Hanna Instruments, IAC, Instrotech, Laser M, Loadtech, N&Z, National Instruments, Phoenix Contact, PPE Tech, RJ Programmable Techniques, Rockwell Automation, RS Components, Siemens, Supplytech Witbank, Temperature Controls, Thermo Electron, Throughput Technologies, Tyco Valves, Vega Instruments, Westplex, Wika, Yokogawa.

On 21 and 22 June the roadshow moves on to Stanger/Mandini and Richards Bay in KwaZulu-Natal and thereafter to the annual event in Secunda on 21 July. This year the Secunda event will be co-located with a conference hosting a series of technical presentations co-ordinated by the Vaal University of Technology. Visiting the exhibition is free of charge, however booking for the conference is priced at R200 per person and handled by Mr At Roux of the University at the e-mail address: [email protected]
