The Model 913+ thermal imager from PREI Instrumentation has all the important features of 320 x 240 pixels, colour display and temperature resolution of 0,08°C, but costs considerately less than other sophisticated thermal imagers. It is also readily available (without long licensing formalities) and training on site is free.
This predictive maintenance tool has 50 Hz frame rate, adjustable emissivity, and range -10 to 400°C (extendable to 1500°C). The standard 256 MB memory card can hold 1000 images, each with an 8 second voice annotation.
An additional feature is a manual-focus lens, which can be an advantage as auto-focus lenses sometimes focus on a part of the relevant equipment that is not of interest to the operator, depending on the temperature distribution of the target.
