Eleven high profile trade shows will be staged in a central meeting place under the Hannover Messe 2005 umbrella. Each trade show will focus on a particular link in the industrial chain, covering the entire range of process and production automation, as well as mirroring the growing convergence of industrial technologies and markets.

The focus of the 2005 exhibition is on motion, drive and automation technologies. One of the main categories will be fluid power transmission. Pumps, motors, cylinders, drives, valves and accumulators are just a few of the products that will be featured. The spotlight will be on integration, as opposed to standalone systems. Solutions for all sectors of industry will be on show and visitors will be able to view the latest automation systems. In addition the latest trends shaping the future of industrial and service robotics will be featured live and in action.

The role of the exhibition has changed significantly in recent years. The emphasis at Hannover 2005 will be to shift away from 'pure' product information towards value added benefits such as knowledge transfer. In this vein, an unrivalled programme of forums, group presentations and insightful seminars will offer visitors a truly well rounded educational experience. Special events will focus on key issues namely water hydraulics, sealing technology, condition monitoring systems and miniaturised actuators. Participants of this year's Festo Control Techno tour will spend at least two full days at the Exhibition, allowing them a once in a lifetime opportunity to grow their expertise, establish contacts and build customer relationships.

During the 2005 tour, participants will also visit leading German manufacturing facilities and tour the Festo production plant.

Participants will enjoy the opportunity to take in a little German culture and enjoy German hospitality. Last year, Festo arranged a bus tour to the historic town of Koblenz, a scenic boat trip down the Rhein and a fun evening - go-cart racing at the Kart Palast.

"Last year's tour was great, two days at the show provided plenty of information and proved, once again, very worthwhile," said Greg Kessler, managing director, Fuse-A-Tron. "I learnt a huge amount about industry in Europe, and that was a truly unique opportunity. It was also interesting to meet people in similar fields to mine from South Africa and other countries," added Tom Thring, project engineer, Polyoak. Stephan van Wyk, from the SABS, commented, "The tour was very interesting and educational, I would definitely do it again. It was good to see the bigger picture of the different industries together, something we do not see much of in South Africa."
