Instrotech has been manufacturing the LCT field mount loadcell transmitter in various forms since 1981. Based on microprocessor technology developed for digital panel meters, the LCT-3 Loadcell Transmitter was released at the Electrex 2000 Exhibition.
This advanced field mount unit incorporates a six digit 20 mm LED display with accuracy (0,01%) derived from a 24 bit serial A/D. The waterproof front facia has six pushbuttons for programming and display selection. Eight LEDs above the digital displays indicate alarm status for a maximum of four alarms, net/gross status, centre zero and display selection.
Switch mode power supply is standard with two versions for 95-260 V a.c./d.c. or 12-24 V d.c. These supplies are powerful enough for driving up to eight load cells in parallel. The loadcell excitation is selectable for 10 V standard or 5 V for use with intrinsically safe barriers. The six-wire method is standard with sense connections for remote mounted loadcells.
A great advantage of this loadcell transmitter is the self-calibration facility. Through the menu you can write in the loadcell sensitivity and the loadcell system full scale value. Once the tare load is applied the display is zeroed. If additional full-scale adjustment is required using test weights the reading can be trimmed. Accuracy is 0,1%.
Outputs are 0/4 to 20 mA, 0 to10 V and serial RS232, RS485 is optional. Outputs are fully programmable. Batching with PLCs is possible using digital inputs for auto-tare, net/gross, display functions and up to four optional output relays.
