Flow Measurement & Control

Electromagnetic measurement now more affordable

June 2004 Flow Measurement & Control

Over the past few years, the electromagnetic measuring principle has established itself as the first-choice solution where the flow of aqueous media had to be precisely determined. Instrumentation specialist, Endress + Hauser, has now furthered its standing in this area through the launch of its Proline Promag 10, an entry-level electromagnetic measuring device.

"The Proline range represents a perfect example of continuance in our product development," a company spokesperson affirms. "Evolution by innovation has driven this series for several years, and this new release is a perfect example of how one can refine a good concept to broaden its application and availability."

The Proline concept is based on sensors for specific applications in the water/wastewater industry, the process industry and for hygienic applications. Independently from the sensor type, customers can choose a transmitter that can be individually tailored to their requirements with regard to signal processing and integration into process-control systems.

Promag 50 is the standard transmitter, while Promag 53 is used in applications with an extended profile of functions. The transmitter portfolio is now rounded off with Promag 10, which provides the basic functions of an electromagnetic measuring device economically. This makes it suitable for measuring points that do not have to meet extreme measuring demands and where variables are shown in analog form at process control level. Typical examples of such applications are found in the fresh water and wastewater treatment industries. The picture shows the Proline Promag 10 from Endress + Hauser, an entry-level electromagnetic measuring device.
