Operator Interfaces, Switches & Relays

High-speed multifunction display series

June 2004 Operator Interfaces, Switches & Relays

With its Codix 571, Kübler introduces a new series of multifunction controllers with particularly fast count inputs, up to 100 kHz. The programmable displays and counters can indicate frequency, RPM or position, convert digital input signals into analog values and can switch two optocoupler outputs as alarms. They can also display process time. The two alarms are user-programmable and together with the optional analog outputs ensure that this Codix 571 6-digit indicator with its 15 mm high LED display will find a wide range of uses.

Within the set-up menu there is a wide choice of options for scaling the inputs so that the desired engineering units are displayed. It is also possible to convert the input pulses into analog output values (scaling function), with a choice of 4 to 20 mA, 0 to 20 mA, 2 to 10 V or 0 to 10 V. An optional serial interface permits easy connection to higher-level systems. The units benefit from an IP 65 protected housing (DIN 96 x 48 mm) and each can be powered either from an AC or from a DC supply.

Applications can be found wherever a high input frequency is used for positioning, rotating or dosing and where an accurate local field display is needed, for example, within the framework of distributed control. Input signals can come for instance from rotary encoders or linear measuring systems, such as the new magnetic measuring system 'Limes' from Kübler.

If the signals need further processing, then the analog converter function can be used, or the positional data can be transmitted via the serial interface. If certain limits have to be monitored, for example maximum RPM or position, then the user can fall back on the two optocoupler outputs.

About Kübler

The Fritz Kübler company is a supplier of solutions in the fields of industrial sensor, - counting - and process technology. Founded in 1960 as a manufacturer of counters and time meters, this medium-sized family concern has built up a presence on all five continents and now has over 130 employees. The company's portfolio includes systems based round linear and rotary measuring technology, as well as electromechanical and electronic tachometers, pulse and time counters. A range of process indicators and controllers makes up a further area of expertise.
