Kübler offers an economical LED miniature digital display, in the 48 x 24 mm DIN format which accepts 0 to 20 mA, 4 to 20 mA, 0 to 10 V or 2 to 10 V input signals. Their most salient feature is their 5-digit display - instead of the more usual 3½ digits. This allows a maximum resolution of 14 bits.
New OEM applications appear in machine construction, where the 5-digit display allows displaying of rotary speeds conveniently. This application follows the trend to use secondary displays in order to provide operators with distributed data. This trend is popular with lathes and wood processing machines. When using servo-motor drives, there is the possibility to use the analog output signals (0 to 10 V) generated by the tachometer to the input of the digital display and thus to display the motor speed. Besides machine construction, there are the conventional uses in the process branch, for instance to display flows or fill-up levels. In such cases, the freely programmable operating curve, ie, the assignment of the display value to the input value, is very important. As an example, when checking the fill-up level, the data required is often not the volume remaining in the tank, but rather the volume removed. To that purpose, it is possible to simply reverse the operating curve.
The device also offers an automatic storing of the minimum and maximum value. The bright display uses 8 mm high digits. The position of the decimal point can be set. The data is saved for 10 years (thanks to an EEPROM). Supply voltage is 10-30 V d.c. The stickers for the measured units, supplied with the device, are particularly convenient.
