Lancom III is a new addition to the range of portable flue gas analysers from Land Instruments International, supplied locally by Instrotech.
The instrument has the capability to monitor up to nine gases, and a total of 17 measurement parameters simultaneously. The instrument is claimed to offer the best accuracy available from a portable gas analyser, achieved by using an advanced sample conditioning system.
An enhancement introduced with the Lancom III is the new Insight data acquisition and analysis software, which is specifically designed for use with the analyser. It allows data capture, storage, analysis and presentation of measurement information in a simple Windows based program, which runs on any PC or laptop computer.
The analyser is capable of measurement of CO - low, CO - high, O2, NO, NO2, SO2, H2O, CO2 and hydrocarbons. In addition it can calculate combustion efficiency, loss, excess air, CO2, NOX and can provide measurement corrections such as oxygen normalisation, wet or dry analysis and automatic reading conversions. The Lancom III meets US EPA CTM 034 reference method, for report generation to be recognised standards and in addition, carries full ETV approval.
The analyser has the flexibility to meet essentially all measurement requirements in a single instrument. The user selects the gas types and options (from an extensive list) that are required for their specific application. The Lancom III can be upgraded in the field by remote communications, where future changes in application requirements arise. There is no need to return the instrument to the factory.
The extensive list of options include draft measurement; flow measurement (for flue gas velocity, flow rate and mass emissions rate); smoke measurement; a range of sample probes (including the DrySampler Probe), Insight data acquisition and analysis software system; analogue outputs; wake and sleep facility (semi-continuous monitoring - for unattended periodic operation); as well as a choice of display languages.

Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring
Data centres are one of the most energy-intensive building types, consuming up to 50 times the energy per floor space compared to a typical commercial office building. With organisations embracing advanced technologies, data centres powering these technologies are under increasing pressure around the globe to increase capacities and improve efficiencies.

At its peak in 1994, the energy generation capacity of the UK’s nuclear power stations was 12,7 GW across 16 plants. In 2024, the capacity has fallen to around 5 GW, and the number of stations is down to nine. However, this is far from the end of the story as spent nuclear fuel remains radioactive for centuries, and requires rigorous safety processes to safeguard against leaks.
