Temperature Measurement

Industrial transmitter for dew point measurement

September 2003 Temperature Measurement Products & Solutions

Exact dew point monitoring is playing an increasingly important role in many industrial applications, such as drying processes; air-pressure pipelines; warehouses; paper industries and chemical industries. For these various applications the multifunctional EE35 Series has the ideal features. This latest development by E + E Elektronic, represented in South Africa by Temperature Controls, is based on a functional, user-friendly housing concept, on the polymer humidity sensors of the HC series.

The auto calibration process enables measurements in a measurement range of -60 to +60°C Td (dew point temperature), with a Td measurement accuracy of ±2°C. Two freely configurable and scaleable analog outputs are available for the output of the two measurement values (Td and T). The hygrostat output (optional) can be set by means of a potentiometer. This can provide an alarm signal in a simple way, when a threshold of the permitted dew point is exceeded.

A quick overview of the current situation is made possible because of the optional display unit for onsite display of the measurement values and the associated minimum and maximum values. The EE35 Series offers a special auto-calibration process, which is used to compensate for the usual drift affects, and assists in achieving high accuracy measurements, also at -60°C Td.

Beside the fact that the dew point probe has direct mounting, there is also a ball valve installation that enables the mounting and the safe removal of the probe without having to interrupt the running process. For control and alarm purposes, there is an optional alarm module with one relay output. The Td threshold setting is easily set up by means of the potentiometer for this purpose on the printed circuit board.
