Control Roadshow at Secunda

September 2003 News

Once a year Secunda comes up on the Control Roadshow calendar, and this year it fell on 24 July. This annual display is now, after six years, firmly entrenched as the most significant combined control, instrumentation and automation event to take place in the area. 2003 saw five halls at the Sasol Club filled to capacity with a wide spectrum of supplier products from field sensors to scada systems and many interesting deviations in between. Also in full support of the event was the local branch of the SAIMC who used this platform to meet with local and out of town members on the day.

As with all of the Control Roadshow events, the day started early and by 12h00 was ready to receive the steady stream of visitors, which started to arrive as the doors opened. The visitor support to this years event was very encouraging as again the record for attendance was broken making 2003 the best attended roadshow to date. The hosted were from the following companies: ABB, Adroit Technologies, Alstom Automation, Anglo Allied Engineering, Asco/Joucomatic, AWR Smith Process Instr, Burkert Contromatic, Citect Africa, Control Techniques, Endress & Hauser, Energy Metals, Ernest Lowe ELCO, Flexible Electronic Systems, Flowserve, Hamworthy Engineering, Hanna Instruments, Honeywell, IDX On Line, Ind Auto & Control, Instrotech, IPC Africa, KAB Instruments, Krohne, Lapp Cable, Laser Measurement, Loadtech, Newco Instruments, Numatics South Africa, OEN Enterprises, Pinnacle Instruments, PREI Instrumentation, RJ Programmable Techniques, RS Components SA, SAIMC, Seaton, Shorrock Automation, Spectrum Communications, Streamworks, Temperature Controls, Thermo Ramsey, Valve & Automation, Vega, Wika Instruments, What's New In Processing, WSP Projects, Yokogawa SA.

Co-located at the Secunda Roadshow was the PROFIBUS User Forum, which hosted a user group workshop. This event was ideally situated within the exhibition and topical presentations were run from 14h00 on the exhibition day. This Profibus event proved to be another one of many successful presentations, which attracted a crowd of over 50 attendees.

The remainder of 2003 will see four more Control Roadshow events being East London, Port Elizabeth, Vaal Triangle and Nelspruit.
