Merger of Keops Altech and Isis facilitates wider service offering

August 2003 - Keops Altech and Isis, both wholly owned subsidiaries of the multibillion rand Johannesburg Securities Exchange listed Altech group of companies, are currently in the process of merging certain operations into Keops Altech. The integration is expected to be completed by 1 September this year and is in line with Altech's restructuring of its IT assets following the acquisition of NamITech to focus more closely on the convergence of telecommunications, multimedia and information technology (TMT).

Keops Altech focuses mainly on the manufacturing industry whilst Isis traditionally operated in the defence, aviation and corporate industries with the exception of the SAP Practice that had mainly manufacturing clients. Despite these, the SAP Practice and the Contracting division, the two Isis divisions affected by the merger, will significantly enhance the business offering of Keops Altech and will now put Keops Altech in a position to offer integrated IT business solutions covering automation and control, manufacturing execution systems, ERP as well as managed services to become a one-stop solution provider for its clients.

MD of the combined operations, Pieter Theron, says, "This is in line with national and international trends and our customers are extremely positive about the move."

"Keops Altech's key competencies include operations consulting and full life-cycle industrial IT projects like process automation and control, manufacturing execution systems, supply chain management, as well as application outsourcing. The merger will exploit synergies at a much lower cost and has the additional advantage that all divisions are located in the same office building in Centurion and have successfully completed numerous joint projects in the past, which will ensure a smooth transition.

Isis Contracting division's reputation in the market for an uncompromising culture of customer focus and repeatable results will stand Keops Altech in good stead and provide it with an increased client base. Likewise, the affected divisions can capitalise on Keops Altech's manufacturing customer portfolio, extreme focus on delivery and the essential process knowledge brought to the table when negotiating new contracts.

In addition, Keops Altech's ISO 9001:2000 certification will add value by bringing quality to the merged company's methodologies, processes, standards, templates and forms, while providing new and existing clients alike with increased confidence in its competence.
