Remote display unit for motor protection relays

August 2003 Operator Interfaces, Switches & Relays Surveillance

NewElec's MA RDU 216 is a remote, panel mounted, keypad entry, display unit with a 2x16 LCD backlit visual display, which can be used as a handheld programming and display unit for NewElec's MA range of motor protection relays.

Operating on 110 or 220 V a.c. the relay includes eight individual non-volatile memory slots for storing relay setting parameters as well as a further eight memory slots for separately storing any preferred input/output configurations. Two types of communications cables may be used for connecting the MA RDU 216 to the MA relay. One type, fitted with a dongle, allows both read and write functions, while the other will allow read functions only. When using the device as a handheld programming tool, the former cable is preferred, while the latter is useful in preventing unauthorised personnel from altering settings on the relays when mounted on a door.

The device is supplied with a comprehensive user-operating manual and is recommended as a user-friendly MA relay setting up key for use on all standalone applications.
