A range of robust motor protection relays is available to protect low and medium voltage industrial motors. NewElec's 320-327 range provides protection against overloading, start/running stall conditions, phase unbalance/single phasing and repetitive starts. These protection features are adjustable and can be set to the required specifications of the machine via four dials mounted on the control panel. Optional earth fault and short circuit protection is also available.
The protection relays may be flush door mounted or chassis mounted. The 327 model can accommodate any current range within the range 0,8 to 1680 A, while others cater for specific ranges divided over seven current selection bands.
LEDs assist maintenance personnel in the diagnosis of fault conditions. The relays can only be restarted once trip indication has been cleared. This is performed by pressing the reset button on the relay - or the remote reset button
The optional earth and short circuit fault protection features a separate changeover contact for back-tripping upstream circuit breakers. Trip times of 1 s or 100 ms are selectable, enabling Type 2 tripping co-ordination.
The 320-327 motor protection relays are suitable for motors running constantly at full load, motors driving crushers or those connected to high inertia loads, motors with long run-up starting times and similar applications.
