Quick disconnect M12 cable assemblies for F&B
August 2003
Enclosures, Cabling & Connectors
IFM Efector has released details of a new range of M12 cable assemblies that were designed to provide reliable performance in aggressive washdown environments. The cables are constructed from a durable grey PVC jacket, which will blend with the stainless steel equipment and piping found in the food and beverage industry. PVC offers good performance in a broad temperature range and is resistant to flame, heat, oxidation, moisture and abrasive conditions.
The EPDM O-Ring is fabricated from a chemically cross-linked elastomer with good flexibility at high and low temperatures. It provides good insulation resistance and strength, as well as resistance to abrasion. EPDM is particularly suited for the caustic cleaning environment found in the food and beverage industry.
Also designed for the food and beverage industry, is the corrosion resistant 316 stainless steel ferrule, which provides long resistance to freezing and rusting. Its smooth external hexed shaped coupling nut aids in the cleaning process and is able to withstand harsh abrasive environments. To meet NEC requirements, the cable assemblies are PLTC rated, CSA FT4 approved, UV resistant and fire retardant. The FT4 test is a vertical flame test similar to UL 1581 but more severe.
Included in the range are QD cables that are shock resistant to temperature changes between -10 and 105°C, thus providing a long life in harsh environments. The cable assemblies include Micro DC connectors with a 300 V a.c/d.c. rating at 4 A, 5,08 mm diameter PVC cable, DIN Type A 18 mm connectors, four-wire Micro d.c. male receptacles, four-wire micro d.c. single-ended male/female connectors and three-wire micro d.c. patch cords. Also included are four-pin micro d.c. attachable connectors and bulk spooled, four-wire, grey PVC cable. IFM Efector is represented locally by Shorrock Automation.
