Ethernet-enabled communication solution

July 2003 Data Acquisition & Telemetry

ADAM-6000, Ethernet-based data acquisition and control modules provide I/O, data acquisition and networking in one compact unit to build cost-effective, distributed monitoring and control solutions for a wide variety of industries and applications. The module is based on the popular Ethernet networking standards used today in most business environments. Users can easily add these modules to existing networks or use the system in new networks built with readily available, standard hardware.

It features an Internet Protocol (IP)-based system that supports both TCP/IP and UDP/IP over 10 Mbps Ethernet networks. It also supports the industrial standard Modbus/TCP protocol to easily link with legacy HMI/scada system or software. The ADAM-6500 communication controller module can easily embed additional control into the I/O itself, creating a localised, less complex, and more distributed I/O architecture that delivers the efficiency and flexibility needed to significantly improve control applications and capabilities.

Through Ethernet networking, an HMI/scada system and an Ethernet-enabled controller, the user can immediately gather and share realtime data from ADAM-6000 with a wide range of devices/sensors. ADAM-6000's combined I/O design meets application requirements and also saves customer's additional costs and spare parts. With added embedded control modules, it can easily create a localised, less complex, and more distributed I/O architecture.

Advantech's complete Ethernet-enabled communication solution provides wired, wireless, modem and fibre optical media with the industrial standard 24 V d.c. power supply and DIN rail or wall mounting kits.

ADAM-6000 series modules accommodate multiple types and ranges of analog input. Physical adjustments are unnecessary, since the modules can be configured remotely at the host PC through Ethernet networking. These modules accept any unregulated power source between +10 and +30 V d.c. and are protected against accidental power supply reversals. ADAM-6000 also offers DIN rail, wall and piggyback mounting kits for industrial environments.
