The Supply-Chain world - southern Africa 2003 conference and exposition will feature a program full of information useful to today's supply chain professionals. Case studies and Supply-Chain operations reference-model (SCOR) implementations will be delivered by speakers from a variety of industries including automotive, oil, mining, government and military, and software solution providers. The event will be held 4-5 August 2003, Mount Grace Country House Hotel, Magaliesburg and is organised by the Supply-Chain Council (SCC) and sponsored by UTi Worldwide.
The event begins on Monday, 4 August with a keynote presentation from Bill Davidson, management consultant, leading academic and author, UTi Worldwide. Davidson is the author of '20/20 Vision,' and "Breakthrough: how great companies achieve outrageous objectives," as well as an experienced keynote speaker. He will discuss ideas and concepts from his books with the conference audience.
SCC chief technology officer Scott Stephens will follow and present a SCOR overview. This session provides an introduction to the supply-chain operations reference-model (SCOR) covering the basics of how the model was designed and can be applied. SCOR is a supply-chain diagnostic tool that enables users to address, improve, and communicate supply-chain management practices within and among all interested parties.
Three themed breakout session tracks will be featured during the event and will run concurrently to allow attendees to choose the sessions that interest them the most. The tracks are 'automotive,' 'research and state partnerships,' 'strategic challenges,' and 'support technology and services.' Featured companies represented in these tracks include Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Sandvik Tamrock South Africa, Elemica, South Africa Department of Trade & Industry, i2 South Africa, Deloitte & Touche, Incisive Technologies & Analytics Corporation, and KreditInform.
Tuesday's events begin with a keynote presentation by Christof Köpke, CEO, and DaimlerChrysler SA. Köpke will relate his experiences of working in the automotive industry in South Africa for over 30 years to the conference audience. He has earned numerous awards and distinctions and is currently the head of the Daimler-Benz Organisation in South Africa and is a past president and current member of the South African Chamber of Business (SACOB).
Concurrent breakout sessions will follow Monday's track themes and will feature representatives from the following companies: Caltex Oil SA, Comparex Africa, SMT Global Solutions, UTi Worldwide. DNA Supply Chain Limited, eFreight, Delta Motor Corporation, SABMiller, SAP-Africa, Supplier Park Development Company, and Business Objects.
The Supply-Chain Council was incorporated in 1997 as a global, not-for-profit trade association with membership open to all companies interested in improving supply-chain efficiencies through the use of SCOR, a supply-chain diagnostic tool that enables users to address, improve, and communicate supply-chain management practices within and between interested parties. The Supply-Chain Council members include Fortune 500 manufacturing companies from industries worldwide, consulting firms, computer systems and solutions providers, and educational institutions. There are currently over 750 corporate members.
