Cape-based instrumentation and electronics company Rhomberg has been appointed the South African agent for Stegmann, leaders in encoder technology.
Rhomberg has successfully represented Sick AG for many years, and now that Sick has recently acquired the Stegmann Company, encoders now form part of the total offering from Rhomberg/Sick. Stegmann is renown for its innovative design of high precision rotary and linear encoders, both incremental and absolute.
Stegmann has pioneered a concept called CoreTech. This latest encoder technology allows designers and engineers to create innovative and high-performance designs with unusual line counts, and enjoy the benefits of shorter component lead times for prototyping as well as simplified set up and zeroing procedures. The additional signals provided by the combination of the sensor array and the bar code track translate into increased accuracy and resolution of position data. Packages can be as small as 2", 2,5", or 60 mm. And encoder shaft speeds of up to 10 000 rpm in combination with a frequency bandwidth of up to 820 KHz are possible.
"We are very excited about adding the Sick-Stegmann product range to Rhomberg's comprehensive product portfolio for factory automation", said Patrick Pitts, sales director for Rhomberg. "We can now offer a basket of products including photo-electric switches, inductive and capacitive sensors, bar code scanners, safety systems, ultra sound sensors, timers, temperature controllers and power monitors along with Sick-Stegmann encoders."
