Cost-effective digital modules in various fieldbus systems

June 2003 Fieldbus & Industrial Networking Infrastructure

New to the Inline automation system product range from Phoenix Contact, the Inline block I/O modules come with 16 or 32 digital inputs/outputs and integrated fieldbus interface. The modules are compatible with the standard fieldbuses. Interbus, Profibus, CANopen and DeviceNet.

The connection terminals are pluggable and are quick to separate without disconnecting the wiring for installation and maintaining the electronics. The sensors and actuators can be connected using the two- and three-wire connection method so that no additional terminal levels are required. The different potential zones are colour-coded for quick and easy installation. This gives the station an easy-to-understand structure and helps minimise wiring errors.

Thanks to the flat design with a height of just 50 mm, the modules are suitable for use in particularly low terminal boxes. The universality of the Inline block I/O modules within the modular inline system gives the user access to the entire range of different signals using just one I/O system.
