Simplifying reliable flame scanning

Fireye of Derry, New Hampshire, is offering the 'Simplicity' 65UV5 flame scanner. Available through The Combustion Group in SA, the scanner features a fully integrated design. Incorporating modern microprocessor technology, this novel approach combines the flame detection, amplification and signal outputs into a true one-piece scanning system.

Simplicity provides 'out of the box' operation with minimal installation and set-up time required and no complex programming. Wide-angle flame detection and high sensitivity are featured as standard, making the unit suitable for many applications. The device incorporates dual switching relays to interface for flame on/flame off indication, with switching thresholds that are pre-configured - saving time and programming costs. The switching relays, as well as all internal components, are continuously self-checked internally to ensure maximum safety in operation. This economical scanner eliminates the need for the traditional external flame amplifier.

The rugged housing has a NEMA 4X/IP66 rating and is suitable for use in Class I Division II, Group C & D 'hazardous environments'. Models are available with a 4 s or a 1 s flame failure response time, covering worldwide applications. Two colour-coded internal LEDs indicate flame status (off/on) and any alarm conditions. These can be viewed through a viewing port at the rear of the unit. Fireye 65UV5 self-checking scanners are used to detect ultraviolet emissions from fossil fuel flames such as natural gas, coke oven gas, propane, methane, butane, kerosene, light petroleum distillates and diesel fuels. Fireye has manufactured reliable flame safeguard controls for the industrial market for over 60 years.
