e2v meets the ATEX standard

May 2003 News Information Security

e2v technologies has achieved ATEX certification for all of its pellistor and infrared gas sensors available in explosion-proof housings. e2v's first ATEX certificate was issued as early as 1999 with certification of the last range of products being achieved in August 2002, nearly a year before implementation deadline.

The EU's ATEX Directive 94/9/EC, which takes its name from the French 'ATmosphere Explosif', adopts common technical regulations throughout the European Union for equipment and protective systems for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, and becomes a mandatory requirement from July 2003.

This certification will be of greatest benefit to OEMs purchasing safety critical components who can now source the certified products that will enable them to satisfy regulatory requirements now and into the future. (e2v is represented locally by OEN Enterprises.)
