Festo has developed the valve terminal VTSA, which, along with vertical stacking modules, has the ability to activate cylinders with different pressures at higher speeds.
This allows fast, precise and gentle plastics and metalworking manufacturing processes. High quality products can now be produced at top speed, drastically improving profitability.
Zones of varying pressures are used to activate a number of clamps with the same force. To apply control pulses to individual clamps, the vertical stacking modules can be used. This clamping system is actuated by Festo’s standard type DNCB cylinders and is designed to prevent damage to painted products. The use of modular profile machining centres helps eliminate the risk of damage associated with loose-lying offcut chips, which can scratch and cause other damage to the final product.
The Festo VTSA valve terminal allows up to four valve sizes to be combined
The advanced technology of the VTSA also makes change-over time shorter as it can incorporate the fieldbus connection. This reduces the amount of wiring required and, in conjunction with the Festo modular electrical terminal CPX, makes expanding onto new applications quick and accurate.
Festo can also now make use of reversible pressure regulators. These allow for processes to run at a higher speed, thereby reducing costs, since every cylinder not travelling at top speed is slowing down production. This component allows for the exhaust air to be fed back directly and not via a regulator. This makes for quicker speed with smaller valves since the cylinders expel faster. Different valve sizes can also be incorporated to optimise flow rates.
