Instrumentation specialist Endress+Hauser celebrates its 50th worldwide anniversary this year, while still increasing the pace at which the company develops innovative solutions for various industrial instrumentation markets. Having significantly strengthened its position in the South African pressure market, the company will target this sector for further future emphasis.
Pressure is one of the most frequently measured variables in process engineering. Apart from monitoring container and pipe pressure to ensure safe operation, pressure is also used to determine other process parameters, including measuring levels in open and pressurised tanks and for flow measurement. If is for this reason that Endress + Hauser has singled out this area for future development.
Cerabar M - hygienic and reliable
Cerabar M is suited to the exacting standards required in the food and pharmaceutical industries, as it features a 99,9% (AL2O3) pure ceramic cell with flush mounting connections offering EHEDG approval. The dry measuring system (no oil fill) ensures that there is no possibility of product contamination and Cerabar M comes with a wide range of hygienic process connections, such as Triclamp, Varivent, etc. Cerabar M is compatible with HART and Profibus PA for simple integration into industrial networks. Cerabar M can also be supplied with metal diaphragm process connections with 3 A approvals.
Cerabar S - precision measurement
Cerabar S measures pressure and level in gas, vapours and liquids. It can be used universally throughout the process industries, but is ideal for high specification applications where higher accuracy is essential. It features integrated operating modes for pressure and level measurement, simplifying linearisation in conical vessels. Cerabar S comes with a wide range of process connections and diaphragm seals for maximum versatility. It is also compatible with HART, Profibus and Foundation Fieldbus and comes with all major approvals, such as ATEX and FM, for use in both safe and hazardous areas.
Cerabar T - simple and cost-effective
Cerabar T is a cost-effective pressure sensor for liquids, vapours and gases, designed for use in a wide range of OEM and simple applications. With a fixed span, there is no need for calibration and Cerabar T benefits from simple installation via either threaded or flush-mounted process connections. For the measurement of absolute pressure and gauge pressure, Cerabar T comes with either a ceramic sensor (up to 40 bar) or a metal sensor (up to 400 bar) and can be used in both safe and hazardous areas for maximum versatility.
Differential pressure - the new norm
In the past, differential pressure sensors have predominantly been used for level measurement, since they can measure small pressures with great accuracy. However, today level measurement using pure pressure sensors, that can commonly measure ranges of 0 to 5 mbar, is becoming increasingly important. Deltabar S incorporates all the features and functionality of the Cerabar S - giving them the nickname of 'the twins'. It is designed for applications where differential pressure, level or DP flow measurement is required. The ceramic or metal sensors provide excellent material compatibility with all processes.
Further features, such as the high turndown ratio, modular construction and simple programming, enable one transmitter to be adapted for various different applications. High overload resistance and optional 160 bar or 420 bar static pressure are also required by many applications. The high accuracy, low drift and low thermal effects make it a perfect solution for high specification applications.
