SAIMC: From the President’s desk

March 2016 SAIMC

Driving forward

Our branches across the country have undertaken their respective annual general meetings and we would like to thank them for the enthusiasm and commitment that will make 2016 another successful year. Of note was a robust debate on the need for enhanced value proposition to our student membership offerings. To this end, I would like to thank our Durban branch and all our branches for their active participation in formulating the strategic plans for the year.

We have also begun collaborative engagements with ECSA and the formal proceedings will follow in the coming weeks. I would like to take this opportunity and request all our partners to present their Technology Evening training material to us for CPD registration. Please contact our secretary, Ina Maartens, at [email protected] in this regard.

Our participation in the upcoming African Automation Fair 2017 launch and IIG annual general meeting brings forth great excitement and anticipation.

Last but not least, we have also commenced with the preparations for our annual SAIMC gala dinner. Expect an astounding event, thrilling experiences and exciting networking sessions. On that note – save the date: 30 September.

Refocused efforts

As you know, our national AGM is coming up on 15 March. I have been working closely with the executive council on our strategic focus areas to ensure that we are well positioned to achieve our medium- to long-term growth aspirations.

Across our value chain, and notwithstanding the challenging macroeconomic climate, our diverse portfolio of businesses and functions continue to drive outstanding results.

Looking beyond the here and now, taking into account the volatile macroeconomic environment and our capital investment plans, we will be introducing more focused resources into our marketing and operations business portfolios. The executive council has committed to accelerate this initiative and we will be making official announcements by June.

To our patrons

Oratile Sematle.
Oratile Sematle.

Over the years, we have demonstrated our ability to match, and in many instances better, our past performances, despite an often-challenging external environment. Collectively, we are tasked with shaping the SAIMC of the future. Going forward and in the context of our three-year-old business plan, our effectiveness will continue to depend on our ability to work as a committed, inspired, and empowered organisation. We would like to thank you for the unwavering support and your commitment to our cause.

To our branches and council

To branch committee members from around the country, thank you for remaining committed, determined and resolute. I would also like to extend my gratitude to the council and our chairmen for the unfailing support thus far.

Yours sincerely,

Oratile Sematle, President
