The Western Cape branch of the SAIMC is calling for nominations for the 2013 Celebrating Excellence in Automation Projects award. Sponsored by Megadrive Automation and Ilitha Projects, this award was designed to recognise SAIMC members who have played an outstanding role in the conception, design or implementation of an automation project within the Western Cape area.
Criteria
The project should have a profound impact on the affected industry and must be documented and approved by the submitting organisation. It should show technical originality, usefulness and successful implementation.
Nomination process
Candidates can be nominated by SAIMC members or proposed by any participating organisation within the Western Cape area via the nomination form. Nominations will be reviewed by a review and selection committee that consists of C&I industry leaders. Current SAIMC officers are not eligible for nomination during their term of office. All nominees must be SAIMC members in good standing.
Documentation
The following documentation must be submitted:
* Description of project or service that was developed and implemented (IP excluded).
* Description of the significance of the achievement and its impact.
* List of any published patents or papers.
* Any letters of recommendation describing the benefit of the achievement.
The process
Nomination forms can be obtained from Cape Town branch chairman, Mothibi Thabeng. All submissions should be submitted to the Chairman before the 15 November 2013. He will forward the information to the review and selection committee for review and judging based on contribution, papers and patents, and final presentation to branch members. Candidates will then be required to present their papers at a branch meeting. The floating trophy as well as the project plaque and certificate will be presented to the winning organisation at an awards ceremony. All submissions will be treated as sensitive and will not be distributed by the SAIMC or its selection committee.
