What is the future of manufacturing in South Africa?

October 2014 News

The manufacturing industry across the world is evolving. Factories are increasingly automated, becoming more digital than analogue, and the definition of a factory worker now sketches an individual far more skilled than those we traditionally associate with the term. But is South Africa ready for this future.

The Siemens Future of Manufacturing event on 27 and 28 October 2014 is a unique industry event showcasing the latest manufacturing technology and processes, and bringing government and industry experts together in a panel discussion that is not to be missed.

Speaking at an event leading up to #SiemensFOM2014, Frontier Advisory CEO Martyn Davies highlighted the repeated mistake that the South African manufacturing sector makes of sticking to reindustrialisation, rather than moving forward with the rest of the world.

Manufacturing is an important motor of economic growth, and it is in the midst of a major transition. Siemens is helping companies connect the virtual and real worlds of production with industrial integration, innovative software and solutions which enhance efficiency.
