Telco overcomes the problems that the mining industry poses with its powerful and high performance photoelectric sensors that ensure penetration in the highly contaminated environment to ensure reliable detection.
Blocked chute detection is a common application in the mining industry. The Telco Sensors system used for blocked chute detection consists of a PA 11 amplifier with transmitter (LT) and receivers (LR). Sensing ranges of LT and LR range from, 18, 40, and 70 m through beam, with enough power to see through build-up contamination.
A hole is drilled through the chute on either side so the transmitter and receiver can be mounted in through beam mode out of the product stream and at the desired height to prevent build up. The amplifier has an on/off time delay which should be adjusted to allow for big rocks to clear the view of the sensors before a signal is given. There is also a sensitivity adjustment, however at most installation sites in South African mines, full power is used to allow for dust, dirt and misalignment. This has made Telco’s optical sensors a highly sought-after solution for the toughest of environments.
