National Instruments LabVIEW developer events in Johannesburg and Cape Town

August 2013 News

National Instruments recently hosted its 2013 LabVIEW Developer Days, a series of free annual events providing a unique opportunity for new and existing LabVIEW users to learn about time-saving tips and expert development techniques. Events took place in Johannesburg and Cape Town during May 2013, with well over 100 engineers, scientists and educators attending. Attendance was free and designed specifically to improve product skills, knowledge and productivity using award-winning NI LabVIEW system design software for the beginner, intermediate and advanced developers.

“The diversity of industries and applications where the platform is being used by local engineers and scientists continues to grow, across industries including mining and transportation, government and defence, advanced manufacturing, utilities, academia and research,” says Stephen Plumb, branch manager for National Instruments Southern Africa. “The developer days provided engineers and scientists from a wide range of industries and varying application types with a unique opportunity to learn of time-saving development tips and programming techniques, network with fellow developers, and explore some of the latest features and capabilities. With LabVIEW being used for so many innovative applications throughout South Africa, these events provided our local developers with a great opportunity to provide user feedback and help drive the future direction of development.

Technical sessions explored topics including data communications, advanced design templates and sample projects, as well as tips and tricks to speed development. Attendees also heard from National Instruments Alliance Partners, with guest case study presentations from Kiaros Virtual Instruments and Jad Systems, who presented on topics including architecting high-reliability systems and considerations for robust, remote networked data acquisition.
