Invensys Operations Management Southern Africa appoints NIC Instruments and Engineering as distributor
July 2013
News
Invensys Operations Management Southern Africa has announced that it has awarded NIC Instruments and Engineering the distributorship for the Invensys Foxboro measurement and instrumentation range of products as well as the Invensys Eurotherm range of equipment and instrumentation. The distributorship is for the whole of South Africa with the exception of the Vaal Triangle which is covered by a different arrangement.
NIC Instruments and Engineering was founded in August 1986 and has developed a reputation in industry for the exclusive well-known product brands it represents and the backup service offered through branches in Secunda, Vanderbijlpark, Rustenburg and KwaZulu-Natal with other areas serviced through a distributor network. In 1988, the Electrical and Instrumentation Construction Division was started which offers complete turnkey packages involving supply, installation and commissioning.
“For NIC, it is really exciting to be part of the well-known Foxboro brand,” says NIC marketing director, John Ferreira. “Way back in the early '80s, all the directors of NIC worked for AFH Devers, which was the distributor for Foxboro, so the association goes back a long way. Flow measurement is one of our strengths and we will be able to offer our own packaged mass and volumetric flow solutions utilising the combination of the Foxboro DP and multivariable transmitters. The products from Foxboro and Eurotherm complement our existing range and will ensure that we are able to offer a more complete and technically comprehensive package to our customers. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with Invensys.”
“We are well pleased with its appointment and confident that NIC with their application knowledge, professional support and country-wide representation will do our range of Foxboro and Eurotherm products justice,” says Invensys Operations Management Southern Africa managing director, Mike le Plastrier. “Instrumentation is rapidly getting more sophisticated and intelligent requiring an evolving approach to address end-user needs more effectively. NIC has been doing this for decades.”
The range of Foxboro products that NIC Instruments and Engineering will supply include temperature, pressure, level and flow meters, valve positioners, pneumatic instruments as well as liquid analysis products. The Eurotherm range comprises temperature and process controllers, power controllers, graphic chart recorders, sensors, signal conditioners, valves, actuators and solid-state relays.
